Crafting a Future in Fashion

Embarking on the journey of fashion design as a student has been an experience filled with creativity, learning, and growth. Fashion isn't just about making clothes; it's about telling a story through fabric, cuts, and patterns. From exploring the cultural history behind fashion to sewing my own garments, every day as a student offers a new challenge and a new way to express who I am through design.

One of the aspects I find most exciting is exploring the concept of timeless fashion. In an industry that moves rapidly, I have developed a strong passion for creating pieces that don’t just cater to fleeting trends but embody lasting quality and craftsmanship. This desire was cemented during my studies abroad in fashion capitals like London, Paris, and Florence, where I saw how fashion has always been a powerful form of cultural expression.

Another key focus in my studies is designing with purpose. One project I was particularly proud of was creating a no-waste dress out of thrifted men's dress shirts during a summer class at Belmont. This experience was eye-opening, teaching me not just about garment construction but also about the broader issue of sustainability in the fashion industry. With environmental concerns becoming more prevalent, I aim to contribute by designing garments that are both beautiful and sustainable.

For me, fashion school is a blend of technical skills and creative expression. Whether I'm drafting patterns, researching fashion history, or working on a creative marketing pitch for brands, the learning never stops. Recently, I’ve also been exploring the digital side of fashion, studying how brands use their online presence to engage with customers and tell their stories. This digital aspect is becoming increasingly important in shaping how fashion is consumed and perceived.

One of the unexpected joys of being a fashion student is the community. Collaborating with peers with the same drive and passion has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey. Whether we’re critiquing each other’s work or brainstorming together, O’More’s environment creates a sense of camaraderie that pushes us to think beyond the obvious.

As I continue my studies, I look forward to growing my skills and finding new ways to combine my love for fashion with my passion for sustainability and no-waste design. I hope to one day launch my own line that reflects these values, offering timeless pieces that are kind to the environment.
